In 2005, Gail Nyberg became the executive director at Daily Bread Food Bank. In the time that she has been in this position, she has ably led Canada’s largest food bank in the fight against hunger and poverty. She was instrumental in challenging the provincial government to support a full poverty reduction strategy and implement the Ontario Child Benefit in 2008. Last year Gail oversaw the research and creation of a ‘deprivation index’ which has been adopted by the Ontario government as an innovative new measure of poverty and a first for North America. In

The organization’s goal is aimed at showcasing and supporting Canadian talent, expanding the size and scope of opera audiences and making opera a more accessible art form by fusing traditional opera with fresh modern styles and perspectives. A talented soprano, Tonia performed several roles with many companies such as Opera York, Toronto Opera

Repertoire, Opera Mississauga, Sarnia Orchestra and Brampton Lyric Opera. In addition, Tonia has demonstrated her support and flair for the arts through special events planning. For four consecutive years, she produced the artistic event “Calling on Liberty,” which was held in a 5,000 square foot loft in the heart of Liberty Village. This truly unique experience provided a platform for Canadian artists to showcase their talent while gaining invaluable exposure aimed at exploring and exceeding creative goals.
